Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 3, 2026 · Last updated: September 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to Whispy (the “Application”), a dictation keyboard for iPhone developed by Nyte Studios AB (the “Service Provider”), a company registered in Sweden.

Whispy does not collect your data. There is no account to create, no server to sign in to, and no analytics. What you dictate is turned into text on your own iPhone and is never transmitted anywhere. The rest of this page explains that in enough detail to be checkable, including the few places where your device does talk to a network and what is unavoidably visible when it does.

What Whispy Does With Your Voice

When you start a dictation, audio is captured by the Whispy app and converted to text by a speech model running on your iPhone. That audio is processed as it arrives and then discarded. It is never written to a file, never uploaded, and never sent to us or to anyone else. This is true of every language Whispy supports and of every speech engine it uses, including Apple's own on-device speech recognition.

The resulting text is placed into whatever app you were typing in. It is handed from Whispy to its keyboard through a private storage area shared by the two, which never leaves your device.

Information Whispy Stores On Your Device

Some information is saved on your iPhone so the app can work the way you have set it up. None of it is transmitted, synced or backed up to us:

  • Your settings — languages, engine choices, session timeout and similar preferences.
  • Words and replacements you add so Whispy recognises names, jargon or abbreviations.
  • A dictation history, only if you switch it on. It is off by default. Turning it off deletes everything already saved.
  • Downloaded speech models, which are files, not personal data.

Deleting the Application removes all of it from your iPhone.

When Whispy Uses The Network

Whispy makes network requests in exactly one case: downloading a speech model. This happens when you add a language that needs one, and once it is downloaded the Application works with no connection at all — including in aeroplane mode.

We want to be straightforward about what that request reveals, because “nothing leaves your device” should not be read more broadly than it is true. Downloading a file requires your device to contact a server, and that server — like any web server — receives your IP address in order to send the file back. Our content delivery provider may retain standard delivery logs for a short period for security and operational reasons. Those logs contain no account, no identifier of you, and nothing about what you dictate. We do not use them to build a profile, and we do not combine them with anything else.

Whispy contains no analytics, no advertising, no attribution and no crash reporting software of any kind. It does not track you across apps or websites, and it asks for no tracking permission because there is nothing to track.

Why The Keyboard Asks For Full Access

iOS shows a warning when you grant Full Access to any third-party keyboard, saying that the keyboard could send everything you type. iOS shows that warning for every third-party keyboard, whatever it actually does, because it has no way to check — so it warns about the worst case.

The Whispy keyboard contains no networking code. Not disabled, not unused — absent. It needs Full Access for one thing: to communicate with the Whispy app on the same phone. iOS never gives a keyboard access to the microphone, so the app does the recording and transcription, and this is the only channel between the two.

Whispy does not read, store or transmit what you type on its keyboard. It reads the text immediately around your cursor only so it can join dictated text correctly — adding a space, or a capital after a full stop. That reading happens on your device, in the moment, and is not retained. iOS also never loads a third-party keyboard into a password or payment field; those always get the system keyboard. And if you would rather not grant Full Access, typing still works — you simply do not get the microphone key.

Diagnostics

Whispy can produce a diagnostics file to help us answer a support question. It is created only when you ask for one, it is shown to you in full before you share it, and it contains none of what you have dictated. Nothing is sent automatically. Where the file goes is entirely your decision.

Payment

Whispy is bought once through the App Store. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card details, your name, your email address or your billing address. We receive no personal information from Apple about who has bought the Application. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's own privacy policy.

Your Rights

Under the GDPR and Swedish data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete and port your personal data, and to object to its processing. We mention this in full awareness that it is largely moot here: we hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to hand over, correct or erase. The data Whispy creates lives on your iPhone and is under your control, and deleting the Application removes it.

If you contact us by email, we hold that correspondence for as long as it takes to deal with your question. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

Children

Whispy is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone — children included — because it does not collect information at all.

Changes To This Policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be published on this page with a new effective date. If a change ever meant Whispy started collecting something it does not collect today, that would be a change to the product and we would say so plainly in the app, not only here.
